Hi there!Christie Kerr has enjoyed a career in the theatre industry for over 25 years. She has worked throughout the country as a Director, Choreographer, Intimacy Choreographer, Educator, and Performer. Christie was born and raised in Littleton, Colorado. She began dancing at the age of 3 and performing in musicals at the age of 6. She performed and trained throughout her time in Colorado before she left home to attend the University of Michigan, where she obtained her BFA in Musical Theatre performance. Christie began working consistently as a performer regionally and in national tours. Along with her performance, she began cultivating her career as a Director, Choreographer and Educator. After traveling the country, she landed in Chicago, Illinois where she continued to perform. After a few years, she shifted her focus to directing and choreographing, as well as working as an educator to children ages 3 through college. She taught at various dance studios in the Chicagoland area and worked as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia College, Chicago. |
In 2016, Christie moved across the country to the desert of Tucson, Arizona where she is currently an Associate Professor of Musical Theatre at the University of Arizona. She is continuing her work professionally as a freelance director/choreographer as well as creating new curriculum and shaping the BFA students in the Acting/Musical Theatre program. She also continues to teach master classes across the country.

Selected theatres include: Porchlight Music Theatre, Little Theatre on the Square, Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, Circa ’21 Playhouse, Bohemian (BoHo) Theatre Ensemble, Bailiwick Theatre Company, Theo Ubique, Fox Valley Repertory, Williams Street Repertory, Prather Entertainment Group, Columbia College and the University of Arizona.
Most recently, Christie has begun training as an Intimacy Director/Choreographer. She’s trained with Theatrical Intimacy Education (TIE) and Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC). She was chosen as a member of the Educator Advocate Program (EAP) with TIE and trained and worked with an elite cohort of 18 people during the Summer of 2022.
As a director and choreographer, Christie is known for her emphasis on collaboration and connection, and her productions are always polished, inventive and full of joy. She continues to love teaching and loves to see her students flourish and grow in her classes.
